How To Use Jumpers

Zero-Ohm resistors (Jumper Wires)

Resistors of extremely low resistance are named jumper chips or jumper lead by their shape. They can be handled with automatic mounting machines as ordinary resistors.
They are used not only for single side PCB that has no through-hole but for double-sided PCB. An application is used as a dummy, when through-holes for a not- yet- designed- resistor are prepared by way of precaution, and the holes are short-circuited after all. Another application is to make a path for large current because the resistance of jumpers is lower than that of through-holes, and sometimes physically shorter. This application is suited for grounding circuit instead of silver base through holes.
Even if the resistance is minuscule, it is not absolutely zero because of the structure. Use Jumper Wires J-ZJL for circuits where such a little resistance may not be allowed. For surface mounting type, we recommend Mold Type Large Current Jumper Chip Resistors SLZ

Note: Be careful of the interference between signals through jumper and that of PCB pattern for high frequency applications.
